Help for the TreatableTilganga

Blindness is life threatening in the Himalayan region where conditions are harsh and terrain uneven. One major cause of blindness is cataracts. Fortunately it is treatable! Since 1993, the Jamgon Kongtrul Surgical Facility in the Tilganga Eye Centre in Kathmandu has organized mobile eye camps which offer free eye care for the poor and destitute in remote regions. Thousands of patients have been, and continue to be, effectively treated with surgery and intraocular lenses. Since 1994, the Tilganga Eye Centre has conducted 57 Sight Restoration Camps in the area of Nepal, Tibet, China and India. 49,359 patients have been examined and 11,816 operations performed.
