Teaching: Pointing Out The Nature of Mind

Based on the text by the 9th Gyalwa Karmapa: Ocean of Certainty

Friday 7:30 - 9pm

Saturday / Sunday 10 am – noon & 2 - 4pm

By recognizing the wisdom that is innately within each and everyone of us, we experience the clarity, calm and space of the true nature of the mind. This profound teaching on the Mahamudra Path to Liberation from mental and emotional obscurations creates the potential for awareness and stability in one's meditation and daily life.

The Venerable Tsangsar Tulku Rinpoche was recognized by H.E Tai Situ Rinpoche as the fourth incarnation of Ngag Gyud Dhargye Gyatso, a student of Situ Pema Nyiche Wangpo. Rinpoche received ordination as a Bhikshu from the late Very Venerable Dabsang Rinpoche. At the age of thirteen he entered a traditional three year meditation retreat during which he completed all the required practices. He has studied all the major Buddhist philosophical texts and received numerous empowerments, transmissions and oral instructions from many renowned masters, particularly H.E Tai Situ Rinpoche, the late Tulku Orgyen Rinpoche and Khenchen Pema Tsewang, as well as Yonge Mingyur Rinpoché. Rinpoché is currently re-establishing Tsangsar Lhalam and Choeling monasteries in Tibet for the study and practice of the Dharma. While both monasteries combine the traditions of Karma Kamtsang and Barom Kagyu practices, Tsangsar Lhalam monastery is part of his dharmic or blood lineage, whereas his connection to Choeling Monastery, a monastic branch of Palpung monastery originally founded by Ngag Gyud Dhargye Gyatso and with a three hundred year history, comes through his being born in a line of incarnations. Rinpoche was part of the first Canadian Monlam hosted by Rigpe Dorje Centre.

Lama Karma Phuntsok was born in rural Sikkim, India to a refugee family of Tibetan nomadic herders. He entered Sherab Ling, His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche's monastery in India, at the age of nine, training and completing the three- year retreat there under the guidance of both His Eminence and Khyabje Salje Rinpoche. Lama Karma Phuntsok lived at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia for two years and is currently the director of Thopaga Foundation and Palpung Yeshe Chokhor Centre in Erin Town, Ontario. An accomplished calligrapher and visual artist, he paints in both traditional and contemporary styles. His work can be seen at a local Kitchener gallery.

A teaching based on the eighth chapter of the "Treasury of Knowledge" by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Taye.

By developing a calm and stable mind, not only is there a sense of joy and peace, but also the possibility to discover our innate wisdom and insight.

Essential for students at all levels, the Practice of Tranquility and Insight meditation cuts through disturbing thoughts and emotions that we all experience in our daily lives. This mind training meditation forms the core of Buddhist practice and opens the way for freedom from negative habitual patterns that lead to stress and anxiety. Ultimately the result of the Practice is awakened mind.
